Emergency years in 19.
Century: The emigrants
|
Franconia had come 1814 to Bavaria. New administrative structures developed. Had remained the agricultural small possessions, which had resulted from the Mainzer leaving regulations (material division). The small fields with their little fruitful soils, which lay frequently still on steep slopes, brought only small yields. This changed by the introduction of the potato. Over 1810 had become already considerable the cultivation of potato in the Spessart and could increase the productive value of the fields. The potato became the "stomach filler" of the poor people. But only with favorable weather conditions the fruit introduced from America could bring good yields. In dry years it came again to hunger emergencies. In the Spessart there are no bodenschaetze, on those an industry could themselves have constructed and also different jobs was not available not. However the work on the new red sandstone offered small acquisition possibility. The years 1878 to 1880 were particularly bad years with dry summers and very cold winters. In the recordings of the field juror combination Suedspessart of the 2.Juni 1879 is to be read: "into the Spessartorten, particularly in Jakobsthal, Heinrichsthal, Weibersbrunn etc. was in the letzen winter a general hunger emergency." (note: Also old person book was badly concerned, as in the house chronicle of the school sisters to read is.) "(...) in completely Germany for it one collected. (...)In most of these places institutes for soup were established." The entry of the 30.Mai 1880 notes: "the winter was the hardest half of the fruit trees)Die since 1829.(... is beschaedigt.(...)Die weinstoecke is already all erfroren(...)" At the 6.Juni 1881 is too lesen:"(...)Sehr many married Steinhauergesellen from this area are in Bremen, Hamburg, Strasbourg in work. Because of these bad earnings/services the emigration is a very strong (...), to America." From Breitenbrunn left in the years 1850 to 1930 52 persons their homeland, in order to develop itself in the new world a better existence. |
