Orpik Family from Dabrowo Bialostoka and Rozanystok Parishes.

I became interested in this family because one Orpik family in Osowy Grad in the parish of Augustow, actually changed the spelling of their name to ORBIK in the early 1800s. See this family here. This Orpik family originally came from the parish of Krasnybor and other Orpiks were found in the nearby parishes of Dabrowa Bialostoka and Rozanystock.

This is not a complete genealogy. We only had a few hours to work with the pastor in Dabrowa. This list is a compilation of my notes, Iwona Dakiniewicz's notes and some 1846 census data provided by Jonathon Shea. 1926 parish census data courtesy of Daniel Bucko, founder of the Sokolka Parish Genealogical Society.

Jay’s Notes

My notes include a compilation of mine and Jonathan’s. There was a an index from the 1790s through the 1850s but births and death only included the child’s name and the father but not he mother. So there are some children that area difficult to attribute because several fathers had the same name, like Jan Orpik. I was able to definitively connect some of them by referring to the original records but we ran out of time. Other connections are obvious due to other records. These children will questionable connections are highlighted in yellow.

I just received this record from Daniel Bucko, who is starting a Sokolka County Genealogy Society. It shows the Orpik entries from the village of Kamienna.

It lists under Lawnik (aldermen)

Jerzy Orpik, wife, son Franciszek (4), daughter Franciszka (7) and a Parobek (servant).

Mikolaj Orpik, wife, son Antoni (1), Macucka (?) and Parobek.

This was an interesting couple of entries in the early 1600s of a Helen Worpikowa. Was this a spelling variation or a clue to the Orpik name origins? These were the only two entries of Worpik. All other enrtries in this parish are spelled ORPIK.

Casimir and Hedwig Horbacuk had twins Anna and Teresa in 1643 in the village of Dabrowa in the parish of Kamienna.
