Vincent Orbik

(1902-1981)

Biography

 

 

 

 

Vincent Orbik aka Orbick, was born 24 April, 1982 in Ironwood to Felix Orbik and Joshephine Wozniak. He was baptised in St. Michael's parish.

Vincent and Ida had one son, Robert, born 19 April 1922. He served in WWII and became a chiropractor in the Indianapolis Indiana area. He married Mildred Drake from Indianapolis on Sep 6, 1952. It appears that they had no children. Robert died 19 Dec 1991 in Morresville, Morgan County Indiana.

By 1933 Vincent owned and operated a grocery store in the Puritan Mine Location between Ironwood and Bessemer.

Vincent was classifed 4-A and did not serve in WWII.

His wife died on 16 Feb, 1946 in Puritan at the age of 47.

By 1956, Vincent was living in Thomston, a small community north of Bessemer. He owned a resteraunt, bar and sauna there.

Vincent Orbik died in Wakefield in September 1981.

In 2011, I found this old bar in Thomaston. It is really the only building in Thomaston with the exception of a few scattered houses. It is actually a dwelling now but there is still a bar in the living room. I believe that this is probably Vince Orbick's old restaurant, Bar, and Sauna.
