Stanley Orbik

(1896-1976)

Biography

Stanley Orbik aka Orbick, was born 4 Nov, 1896 in Ironwood to Felix Orbik and Joshephine Wozniak. He was baptised in St. Michael's parish.

According to his Obituary in the Ironwood Daily Globe on Staley attended St. Michael's school and worked briefly in the mines. He was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 50 years working at Chicago, Antigo, Rheinlander, Ashland, WI, and Ironwood, retiring in 1967. He was a steam and diesel engineer for most of his career.

On 26 July, 1938, Stanley married Blance Glowinski in St. Helen's chuirch in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They had no children of their own but adopted and raised two children, Gust Buczek (male) and Harriet Reiter.

According to the Bessemer Herald, on Sep 9, 1938, Stanley Orbik was appointed as the turnkey of Gogebic County Jail when his predecessor was promoted to undersherrif.

Stanley Orbik died in Ironwood on 13 May, 1976.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stanley Orbik died in Ironwood on 13 May 1976 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery. Blanche died 30 Oct, 2000 in a nursing home in Milwaukee.
